Programme notes:
First composition written in Singapore in 1995, this virtuoso piece is based on two nonsensical Flemish songs that were sung during weddings in the composer’s family. One group of guests will sing “potteke vet” (small pot of fat in Flemish). Out of feigned exasperation, another group tries, in the spirit of fun, to overpower the verses of “potteke” that get longer and longer by intoning “ajuin” (onion in Flemish).
